Gosaikunda
A short alpine trek in the Langtang region to the sacred glacial lakes of Gosaikunda — Hindu pilgrimage site below Lauribina La with wide Himalayan views.
A short, sacred-lake trek from Kathmandu
Gosaikunda is one of the most rewarding short treks in the Langtang region — a steep climb out of Dhunche through pine and rhododendron forest, a careful acclimatisation day at Sing Gompa, and a final morning above the treeline to the string of glacial lakes that sit sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists.
It's a strong choice for travellers who want a real high-altitude trek without committing to the longer days of Everest Base Camp or Manaslu, or for trekkers who already know the Langtang valley and want to return for something different.
How we plan it
Nepal Nexus builds your Gosaikunda plan around your dates, fitness and travel style. Ram Prasad Tripathi and the team look at how many days you have, your altitude history and the season before suggesting the right pace and side-trips.
For most travellers that means a careful itinerary with one acclimatisation day at Sing Gompa, an early-morning climb of Surya Kunda above the lakes, and a sensible descent back to Dhunche.
Who it suits
Gosaikunda suits trekkers who want a short, scenic high-altitude trek without the EBC altitude profile, returning travellers who already walked Langtang Valley and want a different angle on the same range, and travellers with a religious or cultural interest in the sacred lakes.
Tell us your dates and we'll help you decide whether the standard 8-day route, a slower acclimatisation version, or a combined Langtang + Gosaikunda loop makes the most sense.
